Why Sports Courts Need Precision That General Line Markers Can't Deliver?

A tennis club in Moorabbin called us about their championship court. The previous marking was done by a general painter who didn't understand tennis court dimensions. The service boxes were uneven, baselines weren't parallel, and the court failed club certification. They needed it done properly for their upcoming tournament. We stripped the existing marking and started fresh. Laser measurement for precise dimensions. Pilot lines in chalk for approval before paint. String lines maintaining perfect parallels. The court passed certification and hosted the tournament without issues. We made a measurement error on a basketball court in Coburg in 2014. We were 35mm out on the three-point arc at one end. Doesn't sound like much, but it's immediately visible to players and officials. We had to grind off the arc and remark it correctly at our cost, around $1,800. That taught us our current verification process: measure, mark in chalk, verify, then commit to paint.
